SlurryKat gets the cream with £460k Scandinavia contract

By Clare Weir

A farming firm in Co Antrim has secured an order worth over half a million pounds in Scandinavia.

SlurryKat, based in Waringstown, Co Armagh, has just secured an initial order with an agricultural company worth £460k, which should top £800k by the end of 2012.

The new deal will see the creation of four jobs, which will take staff levels to 29.

The firm is now counted among the market leaders in slurry handling equipment worldwide and builds equipment designed for the contracting and farming sector.

All SlurryKat equipment is designed and manufactured at the company's production facility.

Garth Cairns, chief executive at SlurryKat, said that order books have never been healthier despite the downturn.

"We have been increasing substantially over the last two years and we currently have equipment operating in 18 countries," said Mr Cairns.

"We have spent hundreds of thousands to ensure we are the best at what we do and this has paid off with a healthy order book in the deepest recession in history," he said.
