Smiles Dentalcare invests £300k to create eight new jobs

A dental surgery in Co Antrim has opened new premises, creating up to eight jobs.

Smiles Dentalcare is expanding its team at the new base in Ballymena, where it has refurbished a former estate agents on Ballymoney Road in a £300,000 investment.

The business was previously operated from rented premises in the health centre on Doury Road – but the dental practice partners said they wanted to expand and offer their services to more new patients. The investment was supported by Ulster Bank.

Practice manager Richard Pearce said: "Five new jobs have been created at our larger premises, with Smiles Dentalcare now employing an additional dentist, two nurses, a hygienist and receptionist. We hope that another two or three positions could soon be created."

He said the new premises allowed the practice a "strong on-street presence".

"We plan to continue to introduce new technology to enhance our patients' experience and provide them with the best possible treatment.

"From January we'll have online appointment booking and a 24-hour call answering service so customers will always be able to speak to someone who can help them."

Ulster Bank business manager Philip McNeill said: "We were pleased to help the team at Smiles Dentalcare buy and refurbish premises from which to operate a fully-equipped, modern dental surgery for the people of Ballymena.

"As Northern Ireland's leading local bank, we believe it's important that we provide access to affordable finance for small business, and it's great to see new jobs created as a result."
