Software company wins £500k charity contract

Newtownabbey software firm Northgate has won a £500,000, three-year "third sector" contract.

Northgate will upgrade and manage the PC estate of Christian Aid to help the charity streamline its services and further focus on its fundraising activities.

The project will see Newtownabbey-based Northgate refresh more than 520 desktop machines, including new PCs, laptops and notebooks used by more than 500 staff in 20 offices throughout the UK and Ireland.

The ageing equipment was leading to high maintenance costs for Christian Aid.

Northgate, crowned UK IT Supplier of Year at the British Computer Society -amp; Computer UK Industry Awards 2011, will also provide training for charity staff.

Northgate also provides IT support to the NSPCC, Children 1st as well as a number of Housing Associations.
