Students do gain benefit
Rebecca Hall is president of the NUS-USI, the body which represents students in Ireland. She said the organisation had been aiming to include apprenticeships – who typically study or train one day a week in a further education college – in its work for the student population.
Ms Hall said working with apprentices had shown her the importance of the model, and its appeal.
"I find in general that students are loving their apprenticeships. They really enjoy it and get something totally different out of it."
