Superdry to open its third Northern Ireland store in Newry

Clothing chain Superdry - famous for its heavily branded hoodies and leisurewear - is to open a new store in Newry.

Work is underway to fit out the 6,700 sq ft shop in The Quays shopping centre, home to major retailers including Debenhams, Sainsbury's, Miss Selfridge, Topshop and Next.

And it will be Superdry's third store in Northern Ireland. It has a flagship branch in Belfast's Victoria Square and a discount outlet in Royal Avenue, Belfast.

The brand has a growing presence around the world, operating through 515 Superdry branded locations in 46 countries.

There are 139 owned stores across the UK and mainland Europe, 208 franchised and licensed stores, all but one outside the UK, and 168 concessions. Its parent, SuperGroup, posted pre-tax profits up 16% at £73.5m. Sales rose more than a fifth to £590.1m in the year to April 30. SuperGroup also has ambitions to crack the US and Chinese markets this year.
