Survey: over 60s are struggling

A FURTHER 45,000 jobs will be lost in the construction industry this year as economic uncertainty continues, signalling a "lost decade" for the sector, a new report predicted today.

AN Age UK survey has revealed one third of older people are struggling just to buy basic supplies. The charity said if its study was projected nationally, it would equate to 4.5m people over 60. Its study showed some are forced to go without basic household goods such as a television or an oven due to rising household costs like fuel bills.
