Toyota factory to build solar-energy scheme

Toyota is set to be the first UK motor firm to install a large-scale solar panel scheme, capable of supplying enough energy to build thousands of a year.

Work has started on installing the ground-mounted system at the firm's plant in Derbyshire, where Auris and Avensis cars are built for UK and export markets.

Planning approval has been given for the 17,000 panels - enough to cover almost 4.5 football pitches.
