Trader holds hopes on post-summer five-a-side

Goals Soccer Centres was under pressure yesterday as a warning of softer than expected revenues in July and August sent its shares sharply lower.

The stock slipped 9% at one stage even though the East Kilbride-based group said it expected trading levels to pick up again as a result of a marketing campaign to get people playing five-a-side again after the summer break. Recent softening followed a strong first half of the year with revenues up by 11% to £14.7m.
