UK pawnbroker's profits strike gold

THE UK's biggest pawnbroker H-amp;T said it would beat the City's profit forecasts as it continues to be boosted by the soaring price of gold. The chain, which recently opened its 15th store and also has 45 Gold Bar outlets, said underlying profits rose 7% to £1.3m in the six months to June 3 in what it described as an "excellent" trading performance.
