Ulster bottom of employment table: poll
Northern Ireland has the most negative employment outlook in the UK, according to a survey published today.
The poll by recruitment company Manpower found that hiring intentions here are at their weakest since the middle of 2009.
There are more employers seeking to shed staff or freeze numbers than there are looking to add to their workforce.
The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey is based on responses from 2,100 UK employers about whether they intend to hire additional workers in the next economic quarter.
Northern Ireland's employment outlook has fallen 16 points since the last survey three months ago. Manpower operations manager Amanda White said the recession and slow recovery were having a negative impact upon employer confidence.
"Clearly times are hard across the country, even London now has a flat employment outlook, and we could be in for a period of sustained low growth."
