By Heather McGarrigle

A shopfitting firm, based in Carrickfergus, is hoping to become the first company to retain a prestigious UK interiors award.

McCue Fit-Out received the Shopfitting Excellence prize at the 2010 Retail Week Interiors Awards for its work on the Urban Outfitters store in Liverpool.

This year, the company is hoping its work on Urban Outfitters' Cardiff store will see it taking the gong home for a second year.

Other locations on the shortlist include M-amp;M's World in London, as well as Nike's house of Football in South Africa and Louis Vuitton's new store in London.

Les McCracken, managing director of McCue Fit-Out, said: "The Retail Week Interiors Awards represent the highest standards of our industry and we are proud to have gained a place on the shortlist of the UK's best specialists.

"Recognition for your effort is always satisfying, but it means much more when it comes from industry peers who set the highest of standards and analyse every aspect of your work."

The firm has also completed fit-outs for White Stuff, Starbucks and Wagamama.

The Retail Interiors Awards 2011 will be held on September 29 at the Hilton, Park Lane, London.
