Union cancels industrial action ballot for Virgin West Coast train cleaners

A planned ballot for industrial action among workers who clean Virgin West Coast trains has been cancelled after a dispute over jobs was resolved.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union employed by contractors Voith Industrial Services were going to vote on whether to launch a campaign of action in protest over staffing cuts.

The union said a deal had been agreed for jobs to go through natural wastage rather than redundancies.
