University of London security staff strike in zero-hours contracts row
University security staff have launched a 48-hour strike in a dispute over zero-hours contracts.
Workers at the University of London mounted picket lines outside a number of buildings.
The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain said it was calling for a pay rise and an end to zero-hours contracts.
General secretary Jason Moyer Lee said the row goes to the heart of the problem of outsourcing in universities, adding: "The university blames the contractor, the contractor blames the university and the workers lose out."
