Who has the pint-pulling power to be the toast of pubs of Ulster?
The search is on to find the best pubs throughout Northern Ireland with the launch of the Pub of the Year Awards 2011.
Pubs of Ulster, the professional body for the licensed trade in Northern Ireland, is calling on publicans to demonstrate the very best that the local pub trade has to offer in a bid to become the Pub of the Year 2011.
Launching the awards are (from left) Paul Connolly, managing editor of the Belfast Telegraph, Colin Neill, chief executive of Pubs of Ulster and Sorcha Wolsey, chair of Pubs of Ulster. This year's competition will recognise the best pubs in each county with the Regional Pub of the Year Awards.
This year's awards are sponsored by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Richmond Marketing and all of the major drinks companies: Tennent's NI, Heineken Northern Ireland, Dillon Bass, Diageo, Molson Coors, Britvic and Coca-Cola.
All premises entered for the awards will be judged, depending on their category, by written submissions, interviews or by independent mystery shoppers.
An independent judging panel comprising of Martin Breen, editor of the Sunday Life; Gary McDonald, business editor of the Irish News; Adrienne McGill, business editor of the News Letter; Paul Connolly, managing editor of the Belfast Telegraph; Robert Cully from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and Louise Murphy from Hospitality Review will decide on the overall winners.
