Work begins on Belfast Holiday Inn expansion

By John Mulgrew

Work has started on a £5m 60-bedroom extension to a Belfast hotel. Andras House, run by businessman Lord Rana, is expanding its Holiday Inn Express at University Street. The contractor appointed is MSM Contracts, which is also building the Hampton by Hilton property for Andras.

Plans for the extension were first reported by this newspaper in April last year.

Rajesh Rana, director of Andras Hotels, said: "We are in an exciting time for Andras Hotels. Work is progressing at Hampton by Hilton and we are now about to commence work with one of our longest-running properties, Holiday Inn Express.

"The Holiday Inn Express brand is IHG's fastest growing hotel brand and is hugely popular with business travellers who need a simple, engaging place to rest, recharge and work."
