NI company's multi-million pound deal to kit out college

Belfast-based Alpha Group, which specialises in office and educational furniture and design, has won a multi-million pound contract at a Scottish university.

The company's Scottish division, Alpha Scotland, will kit out key learning spaces at the University of the West of Scotland's new £110m campus in Lanarkshire.

Alpha will provide contemporary, multi-functional furniture across the library, learning and "break out" spaces.

Julie Carson of Alpha Scotland said: "Education is an area in which we do a great deal of work and we are delighted to have the opportunity to bring our expertise to such an exciting new development.

"The importance of surroundings, particularly when it comes to learning, cannot be underestimated."

The Alpha Group, based at Dargan Road in Belfast, expanded into the Scottish market with the acquisition of Steelcase Scotland in 2016.

It has since delivered a number of major projects there, as well as in the Republic and England.

Other projects which it has completed in Northern Ireland include supplying furniture for the food hall at Ulster University, furniture in the players' lounge at Ulster Rugby's Kingspan Stadium and furniture and shelving for the refurbished Carnlough Library.
