£60m scheme for 400 homes expected to win approval

By John Mulgrew

A £60m housing development with almost 400 homes is poised to be given the go-ahead.

Antrim Construction Company plans to build 393 family homes, including a mixture of detached and semi-detached properties, along with apartments.

The development, called Belmont Hill, will be built close to the Belmont Road in Antrim.

According to the developers, it will create 50 jobs during its construction, which will run over 10 years.

The application is being recommended for planning approval by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.

David Magee, building director for Antrim Construction Company, welcomed the news.

"Our proposals for Belmont Hall will meet a small fraction of this need (for homes) and provide quality homes that respect the semi-rural location."
