Ards and North Down Borough Council has appointed Aecom as consultant for its £60m Bangor Waterfront project.

The council is aiming to redevelop a 2.2-mile stretch of the seafront.

The project includes new public realm space and new greenways and coastal paths.

Pickie Park is also to be improved, to become what the council hopes will be a family visitor attraction of "national significance".

A "re-imagining" of Ballyholme beach is part of the project, which will also see the redevelopment of Ballyholme Yacht Club into Northern Ireland's only centre of excellence for sailing.

The Aecom-led team for the project also includes Hemingway Design, Savills and Jettora.
