The Airbus A220-300 aircraft, the wings of which are made in Belfast by Bombardier staff, will be on display at the Dubai Air Show, which begins this weekend.

The European company called the A220-300 "the newest member of the Airbus single-aisle family". An A220 owned by Egyptair will be on display. Airbus said it will also be showcasing its other commercial and military aircraft and its helicopters and space systems at the event, which takes place from November 17 to 21. The Airbus A220 started life as Bombardier's C Series plane, before Airbus acquired a majority interest in the model.

Its wings are made by around 1,000 Bombardier staff at its main factory in east Belfast. Last month Bombardier announced the sale of its operations in Northern Ireland and Morocco to US giant Spirit Aero Systems in a deal worth nearly £1bn.
