Hospitality firm Beannchor has said a new £500,000 deal with 3T Power will enable its entire portfolio of venues to be powered by renewable electricity.

The group includes The Merchant Hotel, pub The Dirty Onion and Little Wing pizzeria chain.

Group boss Bill Wolsey said it's part of a general move toward more ethical policies.

He added: "Beannchor venues annually use over 500,000 straws and over 50,000 takeaway cups and the move to introduce fully biodegradable and compostable versions will dramatically reduce the amount of waste generated."
