Belfast restaurant chain Slim's heads to Mid-Ulster after franchise deal

By Staff Reporter

Belfast restaurant chain Slim's Healthy Kitchen is to open in Co Londonderry as part of a new franchise deal.

Slim's owner Gary McIldowney has signed up Conor and Ryan McGlone to open up at Market Street in Magherafelt in the spring. The 70-seater restaurant will employ up to 20 people.

The McGlone family already operates nightclub and pub businesses in the area.

Conor McGlone said: "We have been looking out for the right business opportunity for a while and we always eat at Slim's when we are in Belfast, so it was a perfect fit."

Slim's was founded in 2013 by Gary McIldowney and operates from two locations on the Lisburn and Belmont Roads in Belfast.

Mr McIldowney said: "Running a restaurant is a dream for many just like it was for me.

"But together with Ryan and Conor's experience and the drive and commitment from my team we are confident of building a viable and profitable lasting relationship."
