Belfast restaurants in bid for Michelin stars
Belfast's Ox restaurant on Oxford Street and Deane's Eipic on Howard Street will find out on October 1 if they will retain their Michelin stars in 2019.
And Belfast Telegraph restaurant critic Joris Minne said the two could deserve an even bigger accolade in the form of two Michelin stars each.
He said other local venues could also be in the running for single stars from Michelin, the highest mark of prestige for the restaurant industry.
"The question now is not whether Ox and Eipic will hold on to their stars but whether they should now be awarded two stars, the first to do so in Northern Ireland," Mr Minne said.
"I would position four contenders for stars including Upstairs at Balloo House (Killinchy), James Street South (Belfast), Brown's on the Waterside in Derry and Catalina in the Lough Erne Resort (Fermanagh)."
