Belfast street turns into catwalk to encourage shoppers

By Staff Reporter

Belfast's Arthur Street is set to become an outdoor catwalk this Thursday - in a bid to remind shoppers that the city is open for business.

More than 50 shops are set to take part in the Street Style pop-up fashion event by Belfast One in association with Belfast Fashion Week.

The event will see beauty demos as well as fashion, with a diverse range of models in the street catwalk from 5-7pm.

Clare Maguire from Belfast One said: "Belfast has the best retail offering in Northern Ireland, with lots of brands and independent stores that you can't get anywhere else in the country and we're delighted to team up with Belfast Fashion Week to showcase the range that's on offer.

"Retail is a massive employer in Belfast and forms a key part of our city landscape, and the Bank Buildings fire has had a huge impact on the city and retail employees. There is a need to support our city centre so I would urge people to enjoy the city and shop local if they are making shopping purchases in the coming weeks and months. We are most definitely open for business."
