Belfast to host global travel business event in 2018

By Emma Deighan

Belfast will welcome more than 200 travel and business delegates to the Waterfront Hall next summer after it won its bid for the Hosts Global Forum.

The forum is a global travel trade event that was held this year in New Orleans, and its 2018 event will mark its first visit to Europe.

It will bring 100-plus of the world's leading destination management companies and 100 of the world's leading meeting and incentives buyers and planners to Belfast.

John McGrillen, Tourism NI chief executive, said: "Buyers in attendance account for approximately $2bn (£1.5bn) in business revenue all over the world. All major incentive based businesses will be present during the Belfast forum and the associated benefits of Hosts Global will be felt across the economy for years to come."

The event, from June 21-24 2018, will include the public and private sectors' hospitality and tourism organisations.
