Cathedral Quarter the location for new hotel from Conway Group
A new hotel planned for the Cathedral Quarter by Co Londonderry company Conway Group would be located in Dunbar Street, Belfast Telegraph can reveal.
The company has become known for building Premier Inns in Northern Ireland - most recently in Bangor, Co Down - but also has residential projects planned for three sites in the city.
Now it can be revealed that it's aiming to locate a new hotel in Dunbar Street.
But the company would not reveal any further details, saying the details are "commercially sensitive".
According to website Future Belfast, a subsidiary of the company formerly owned 12 to 20 Dunbar Street - which includes the former Arnotts fruit and vegetable business at numbers 16 to 20.
However, the location of Arnotts is already subject to plans by nightclub and events business Shine, which has lodged plans to turn the warehouse into an events space. That application is still under consideration by Belfast City Council.
In recent weeks the building group has submitted pre-application notices to the council for three large residential schemes.

They include a site between Corporation Street and Tomb Street, next to Royal Mail's Belfast headquarters.
A second scheme will be located on a car park site in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter, at the junction of Hill Street and Talbot Street, opposite St Anne's Square.
The third site is located at Holmes Street, close to Bankmore Square, where Conway Group developed the 10-storey CentrePoint office building in 2007.
On the healthcare front, Conway Group has established itself as one of NI's largest privately-owned care home owner-operators, with eight facilities.
It has secured planing permission for a further 81-bed facility next to Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry, while a 140-bed care facility is being built next to its 62-bed Brooklands care home, opposite Antrim Area Hospital.
Construction director Kevin McGurgan said: "We have a number of significant multi-million-pound projects in the pipeline... within the Cathedral Quarter area of Belfast we plan to develop a landmark mixed-use scheme which includes Grade A offices, a new hotel and luxury residential apartments.
