Coach firm hoping to expand Northern Ireland to Glasgow link

By Ryan McAleer

A coach company wants to offer people in towns such as Enniskillen and Cookstown a direct bus link to Glasgow.

Hannon Coach hopes to expand the Belfast to Glasgow service it launched in February this year.

The Co Armagh company, which ran trials from Sprucefield and Lurgan in the summer, said the venture's success had prompted the move.

New locations that could benefit include Ballymena, Coleraine, Strabane and Newcastle.

The firm said its Glasgow Express was the only direct city-to-city, through-coach service from Northern Ireland, using the same coach for the entire journey, and operating twice daily in both directions.

Company director Aodh Hannon said applications for the extended services had been submitted to the Department for Infrastructure.
