One of the biggest credit unions in Belfast is to open a new branch in the Park Centre creating six jobs.

Clonard Credit Union (CCU) is expected to open in mid-August opposite the new 40,000 sq ft B&M and Home Bargains superstores, which have taken over the space formerly occupied by Dunnes.

The budget retailers have each invested £1m to relocate to the shopping mall, more than tripling the size of their premises.

Park Centre owner Latt Ltd has also said it will contribute £1m to enhance the offering at the popular retail and leisure development.

B&M's new store will open on September 5, replacing a smaller unit nearby. The existing 23 staff will be joined by 15 new recruits.

CCU Credit Union said it expects its new branch to further boost footfall at the centre.

Ruth Clarke, chief executive of CCU Credit Union, said: "We are delighted to announce that we are opening a new branch in the Park Centre which will serve the communities of south west Belfast."
