Discount outlet opens in Carrick

By Staff Reporter

A discount retailer has opened its 10th store in Northern Ireland with the creation of 15 new jobs.

The Original Factory Shop outlet in High Street, Carrickfergus is on the site of a former Poundstretcher.

It already has stores in Portrush, Holywood, Ballycastle, Warrenpoint, Kilkeel, Bangor, Dungannon and Omagh.

The business was founded in 1969 with the aim of bringing well-known brands to consumers at factory shop prices. Its policy is to open in small towns.

A spokeswoman said the retailer is planning even more openings. Its products include fashion, footwear, home and beauty items.

Mark Dodington, acquisitions manager, said: "We were looking for a prime location which would generate a high footfall while also giving us the space to feature a wide range of products."

Commercial property agency Lambert Smith Hampton acts as its property agent here.
