Dundonald could get new care home

By Emma Deighan

Plans for a new dementia care home in Dundonald have been submitted to Lisburn and Castlereagh Council.

Graham Irvine Architects provided plans for a development that includes an 87-bed care nursing home and 13 two-bed independent living units that will replace 12 existing apartments and industrial buildings on Greengaves Road.

The application follows on from the news that Hagan Homes' new Enler Village outside Comber will also feature a nursing home as part of its 900-home development.

And recently, care home provider Macklin created 15 jobs with the opening of its new "lifestyle" concept Milesian Manor in Magherafelt.

The facility offers residential, nursing, dementia and respite care in a brand new build complete with en-suite bedrooms, a cinema, wellness garden and a spa bathroom.
