EasyJet has unveiled a "new and refreshing" route from Belfast International Airport to Marrakesh in Morocco.
The low-cost carrier, which has been in Northern Ireland for 23 years, has 16,000 seats on sale from today, with the first flight taking off on October 31.
A big part of the airline's Belfast portfolio is its domestic links, including 200 flights a week between Belfast and London, or 34 flights a day, and up to 14 a day between Belfast and Gatwick.
Travellers will be able to avail of the service to the Moroccan resort twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, throughout the winter until the end of March.
Neil Slaven, easyJet's UK country director, told the Belfast Telegraph that Marrakesh was chosen as a destination from Northern Ireland after careful market research.
"We are very pleased to strengthen our network at Belfast International Airport with this new winter service to Marrakesh," said Mr Slaven.
"It's a new and refreshing addition to our portfolio and we're confident it will prove popular with our customers in Northern Ireland searching for some winter sun.
"We remain committed to providing great value services to our customers in Northern Ireland by offering low fares, a convenient schedule and more choice when they travel."
Mr Slaven said easyJet already operates to Marrakesh from a number of existing airports, adding that "it does really well".
"It's very popular and our customers tell us it's somewhere they enjoy going to," he added.
"It's a lot warmer than Northern Ireland and it's an interesting cultural destination as well.
"It's unusual in terms of our portfolio as it's outside Europe but we think it's a really exciting one for Belfast."
Uel Hoey, business development director at Belfast International Airport, said the news was "fantastic for Northern Ireland air travellers".
"Morocco has long been popular for local holidaymakers, particularly with its strong appeal during the winter months," he said.
"Now easyJet will make access to this exciting destination infinitely easier, with the launch of these new direct Marrakesh flights from Belfast."
