Cuts to higher education in Northern Ireland to patch up a funding black hole at the Department for the Economy (DfE) amount to “an attack on a generation,” it’s been claimed.

A student leader said the moves would “devastate” the future of students, after a reduction in university places and a huge hike in fees were mooted as potential money-saving measures.
