Family fish firm sets up shop at Tesco

By Staff Reporter

A Co Down fish supplier has opened a counter in a Tesco Extra in south Belfast as part of a six-figure deal.

Keenan Seafood, which is based in Kilkeel, will now be trading from Tesco Newtownbreda - its first retail outlet since it was founded over 70 years ago.

It has recruited five new staff as part of the move.

Stephen Magill, commercial manager at Tesco NI, said: "The introduction of this concession signals a renaissance among local shoppers for a daily fresh catch, as well as a growing interest to incorporate fish into family meals more often due to its well-publicised health benefits."

Keenan managing director Gerry Keenan said the firm was "excited to get face-to-face with shoppers and help educate and guide them".
