Up to 77 businesses and 546 homes in the south Armagh area will be offered the chance to connect to the natural gas network in a £700,000 expansion.

Firmus Energy said the project to lay 8,392 metres of pipe to Camlough was expected to begin this month and be completed by December.

Firmus managing director Michael Scott said: "We announced ambitious plans for further investment in the wider Armagh area with an investment in quarter one and two of this year estimated at £495,000 alone.

"This brings our total investment in the wider Armagh area to over £1m in 2019.

"Firmus Energy has invested more than £5m in the Armagh area to date, with over 1,200 customers to date, and we are keen to continue this growth."
