Gritting firm spends £500k on new fleet of vehicles

By Staff Reporter

A services firm operating in activities from road gritting to landscaping and cleaning has announced a £500,000 investment.

Works Services, which owns Saltworks and Cleanworks, said it had more than doubled turnover this year, allowing it to invest in new technology and vehicles.

The Belfast business carries out ground maintenance and facilities services for many SMEs and top companies.

It is the only business here to carry out winter gritting for both the private and public sector.

It invested in a new fleet of Ford Ranger vehicles and salt-spreading equipment, enabling it to reach more companies across Northern Ireland.

Works Services customers include Queen's University, Belfast, Caterpillar, Dunbia, Linden Foods, Norbrook Laboratories, Stena Line and Agnew Group.

Paul Flanagan set up Saltworks in 2011, before establishing Works Services as a parent company three years ago.

Staff include business development manager Philip Tasker.

The business is based on the Ballygowan Road.
