One of Northern Ireland's best-known haulage companies is marking half a century in business.

McCulla (Ireland) was founded in 1969 by the late David McCulla - and now his widow Elsie and children Ian, Carol, Ashley, Anne, Noel and Alan have marked its golden anniversary.

The company, which specialises in refrigerated transport, held a gala ball at the Titanic Hotel in Belfast to celebrate.

The event was attended by McCulla's customers, suppliers, staff, family and friends, who all gave generously to support charity the Cancer Fund for Children.

McCulla Ireland matched the funds raised on the night, before making the donation of £4,500.

The company is now under the ownership and direction of the second generation of the McCulla family.

Brother and sister Ashley McCulla and Carol Thompson jointly took control of the business in 1992.

And they have developed it from a company turning over £700,000 to one turning over almost £26m today.
