High speed rail network deals on table for Northern Ireland firms
Businesses from Northern Ireland are in Birmingham today to find out about opportunities worth a potential £7.5bn arising from high speed rail network HS2.
Firms from all over the UK are attending the supply chain engagement event with HS2 direct contractors.
There are civil engineering contracts worth £7.5bn to deliver phase one of HS2.
The direct contractors are to hold more than 1400 meetings to discuss 90 contract packages with potential suppliers, ranging from environmental works, such as landscaping, to construction materials and plant supply.
David Poole, HS2 procurement and supply chain director, said: "Today's event is a great next step in our programme to engage with businesses from across the UK, and give them all the tools to make the most of HS2's emerging supply chain opportunities.
"HS2 is a long-term national programme and it's great that businesses from across the UK, from as far as Inverness and Belfast, are gearing up to get on board with HS2."
