Hire firm on rise with £10m growth plan

By Staff Reporter

Plant, tool and equipment firm Balloo Hire has invested £10m in its five Northern Ireland sites, creating 20 new jobs.

And the Bangor-based specialist has started a recruitment process for new employees across departments including mechanics and administration.

The investment will also see Balloo's machinery range expand to include new dumpers, generators, site accommodation, 'VIP' toilets for events and garden equipment.

General manager Mark Grundy said: "We have experienced significant growth in the construction industry which is still in recovery from the recession. This has resulted in the company winning new contracts across a broad range of sectors.

He added: "Northern Ireland has a burgeoning events and entertainment sector which has also increased the demand for our products and services. We predict these sectors combined will experience growth over the next three to five years."

Balloo Hire - which has sites in Belfast, Bangor, Ballyclare, Lisburn and Glenavy - is also looking at its growth potential into other sectors.
