H&J Martin completes £4.5m London hotel

By Ryan McAleer

Belfast-based construction specialist H&J Martin has completed a £4.5m hotel contract in Greater London.

The project at a Travelodge Hotel in Bromley for Henry Boot Developments involved alterations to the existing building, including converting two upper floors from retail and offices.

A new steel-framed fourth storey was also installed to create a 59-bedroom hotel over three floors, with four retail units on the ground floor.

The year-long work was carried out while two of the ground floor retail units remained live.

H&J Martin said it was a "very restricted" site. Company director John McDonnell added: "This challenging project was delivered on time, within budget and to the highest safety standards."

H&J Martin Construction became one of 30 companies in the Lagan Specialist Constructing Group in 2015. Four separate Lagan companies entered administration in April.
