How three old Northern Ireland barns became £400k homes - and global sensations
Customers around the world take an interest
Soothing sights, including a view of Slemish Mountain, a waterfall and wildflower meadow, could be yours to enjoy if you snap up a converted barn for £465,000.
Connor Dinnsmore, the developer of Copper Barns, has said he's already sold two of three converted barns on a site outside Broughshane to two London lawyers who want to escape the frantic pace of city life.
Connor and his wife had brought the 4.5-acre site themselves around 10 years ago, planning to convert a barn into a home for themselves. But their plans changed, and instead Mr Dinnsmore and his company Loft Estates have turned the site into a rural paradise.
He worked with McGarry-Moon Architects on restoring the barns and turning them into high-quality, desirable homes.
The architects used salvaged black stone, sustainable timber and glass.
They've even won an award for their efforts.
Mr Dinnsmore said Loft Estates had set out to make the most of the natural scenic beauty around the barns.
"It's near an old quarry with a waterfall, and we've also created informal and formal gardens. We've encouraged a natural wildflower meadow around the three barns, and it's also close to an ancient old hazel woodland and a grass paddock wooded area," he explained.
Two barns sold for around £425,000 each - and the last one, which has three bedrooms, is on sale for £465,000. Despite the rural vibe, the homes also have "generous electrical specification" and wi-fi smart heating controls, among other mod cons.
Mr Dinnsmore said the third barn had attracted interest from around the world.
And now he's hoping to work on a similarly idyllic location in the Ballymena area, but with homes priced at a more affordable level.
The development was part-funded by Danske Bank. Business banking manager Michelle Wilson said: "The Copper Barns development is the latest project from Connor and his team and as ever they continue to innovate and excite.
"A combination of award-winning design coupled with quality driven construction has proven to be a winning recipe for the company and we are excited to see what they are planning next."
