Irish wedding venue set for major expansion
Irish businessman Vincent Callan has received the go-ahead for ambitious €3.5m (£3m) expansion plans at his Ballymagarvey Village wedding venue.
The plans, approved by the Republic's planning authority, will see 23 new luxury three-bedroom cottages - as well as disabled units - built at the Meath venue.
Mr Callan restored the 18th century house and added luxury accommodation after buying it in 2003. The flax mill village on the estate, which includes seven restored cottages, also dates to the 1700s.
The venue opened for business in 2009 and now employs more than 100 people.
It hosts about 300 events a year with about a third of those coming from abroad, Mr Callan said.
But he added that building work will not begin until 2019 because the venue is heavily booked.
