Jobs axed after Co Armagh firm enters administration

By John Mulgrew

Around 14 staff have been let go at a Co Armagh mushroom company after it entered administration.

Button Farm Mushrooms in Markethill was placed into administration earlier this month.

It's now understood administrator PwC is in discussions with a number of other businesses about buying the now-closed firm's assets.

Following the insolvency, 14 staff were sent home after the business closed its doors - they have since been made redundant.

The Co Armagh business had has been selling mushrooms for the last three years. But following the loss of a major contract, along with increased raw material costs, the firm's directors took the decision to place it into administration.

It faced "difficult trading conditions in recent times", PwC said, which included increased raw material costs and the loss of a key customer.
