A major building supplies company has said no jobs will be lost following a huge blaze at its Co Antrim site.

Yesterday firefighters extinguished the fire at the JP Corry store on the Crankill Road outside Ballymena after arriving at the scene on Sunday at around 6.30pm. The building supplies store is beside an Applegreen petrol station on the A26.

The Fire and Rescue Service said yesterday that the blaze was accidental.

It said: "Over 30 firefighters worked hard throughout the night to contain the fire to the two storey building.

"The incident has been dealt with and firefighters left this scene at 9.40am this morning."

There were no reports of injuries.

Seven employees based at the builders' yard have been redeployed to another operation, JP Corry said in a statement.
