Discount grocer Lidl has opened its new store in Dundonald, creating 16 new jobs.

The 1,550 sq m building has brought additional parking, higher ceilings, an enlarged bakery area and a Lidl To Go coffee machine.

Lidl said its new store format was part of a multi-million pound investment to expand its presence in Northern Ireland, where it has 39 stores.

Dundonald store manager Eoin Doherty said that the store would bring "greater choice and a dramatically enhanced shopping experience".

Lidl had previously let the site on Dunlady Road to bargain retailer B&M before deciding to return to it.
