More Wrightbus gloom as Darren Donnelly pulls out
Wrightbus co-founder Sir William Wright marks his 92nd birthday tomorrow as his company and its 1,400 staff face more uncertainty than ever.
Would-be buyer Darren Donnelly, best known for running the trailer business SDC Trailers with his father John, announced yesterday that he was withdrawing from the process to take over the firm.
But the business has said it's continuing to talk to a "limited" number of other investors. On Friday it was reported that Wrightbus faces going into administration if a deal was not reached this week.
SDLP Ballymena councillor Eugene Reid said Mr Donnelly's withdrawal would add to the worry of the staff. "I'm glad to hear that advanced discussions are happening with other investors," he said.
