Mount Charles in £520k government deal

By Ryan McAleer

Mount Charles has announced a major new contract with the Department of Finance.

The independently-owned foodservice, cleaning, security and vending company has secured a two-year deal with the department's headquarters in Clare House, Belfast.

The contract, worth £520,000 in total, will see the outsourcing giant provide a facilities management service to the Airport Road located premises.

Speaking yesterday, Mount Charles' chairman, Trevor Annon said: "We are delighted to acquire the Department of Finance headquarters as the latest partner under our facilities management umbrella and look forward to providing Clare House with our signature professional service.

"This contract is another step on our 'Road to £50m' strategy in which we have committed to achieve revenue of £50m by 2020."

The latest contract follows a multi-million pound deal with European airline Flybe.

Mount Charles has also established a franchise agreement with food retailer Freshly Chopped.

The Irish healthy food specialist is due to open in Belfast city centre, taking up base in the ground floor of The Apartment restaurant, soon to be renamed Hell Cat Maggies.

Mount Charles has enjoyed similar success in the Republic. It has recently announced contracts worth a combined €9m with the Public Appointments Service, Ordinance Survey Ireland, the Abbey Theatre, the National Aquatic Centre and Custom House, home to the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government.
