Musgrave wholesaler plans £1.1m wholesale upgrade

By Rachel Martin

One of Northern Ireland's largest retail and food service wholesalers has announced it will invest £1.1m in upgrading its biggest cash and carry store.

The renovation work to Musgrave MarketPlace's Duncrue centre will include new speciality areas for meat, cheese, fruit and vegetables.

It's expected new jobs will also be created as part of the upgrade, with experts on hand to advise on the latest culinary trends.

The revamped 52,000 sq ft store, which currently employs 179 staff, will open in October.

Musgrave MarketPlace is part of the Musgrave family, which includes Centra and Mace shops.

The store will include hundreds of new products, and buyers will also be able to access the full range online.

Trevor Magill, Musgrave NI wholesale director, said: "The food and drink sector is constantly evolving, and as a business we need to ensure that we continue to innovate and respond to growing trends that impact our customers' needs.

"As well as providing our customers with the products they want, we will also be able to add value through our experts in-store."
