Music and cinema may be on the way at Slieve Gullion Forest Park
Slieve Gullion Forest Park in Co Armagh could become the setting for public entertainment including cinema and concerts.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has submitted plans for an outdoor events space inside a walled garden at Slieve Gullion. It would include an amphitheatre with a removable cinema screen, seating, ramp, paving and stage area.
Drawings show a 3.5m-high wall will act as a backdrop to the stage and cinema screen.
Tiered seating with timber edges and artificial grass will face a raised stage area where performances can take place.
There will also be a marquee selling snacks and drinks.
The plans also outline a path with a handrail to provide wheelchair access to the stage and front row of the seats.
The council submitted the plans on August 30.
