New Carrickfergus M&S foodhall bucks UK trend for closures to bring 25 new jobs
Marks & Spencer's latest Northern Ireland store will open in Carrickfergus at the end of the month with the creation of 25 jobs, the retail giant has announced.
M&S will open its foodhall at Shore Commercial Park on Belfast Road on July 31.
It said it had recruited 50 staff for the store, including offering new roles for existing staff at other stores.
Store manager Grace Lough, who has worked for the company for 13 years, including commercial manager in Lisburn, said: "Having grown up in Carrickfergus, I've always dreamed of bringing M&S to the local community. I feel incredibly proud to finally welcome our customers and talented team of colleagues to the hotly-anticipated store."
The company closed down its Lisburn store at Bow Street Mall last year.
It also opened a new store at Craigavon's Marlborough Retail Park, while its Newry store relocated to The Quays Centre.
The Carrickfergus store will not stock M&S Clothing & Home products.

But it said that customers could order online and pick up items in store.
The store, which will open seven days a week, will also offer next day delivery for orders placed before 12 noon.
The recent M&S openings here contrast with a programme of ongoing closures.
It is to close 112 stores UK-wide by 2022 as part of a major restructuring programme.
