Newry Chamber of Commerce and Trade has appointed Tony McKeown as its new chief executive officer.

Mr McKeown will take over from Colm Shannon, who is leaving the post in August. Mr McKeown has over 20 years’ experience working for leading international and national brands across multiple sectors. His early career was in sales roles at Cadbury based in London.

He returned to NI in 2006 to become a group sales and marketing director in Newry.

Emma Mullen-Marmion, president of Newry Chamber of Commerce and Trade, said: “He brings a wealth of local, national and international marketing and business experience, which will be a real asset to our Chamber, our members and the greater Newry business community.”

Mr McKeown said: “I think Newry is already a great place to live in, work in or visit but there are so many exciting developments planned for the area. It will be fantastic to watch the city evolve through this regeneration programme.”

He will be responsible for the Chamber’s promotion strategy.
