Northern Ireland's newest hotel, The Maldron, has opened in Belfast with the creation of 110 jobs.

The four-star, 11-storey hotel on Brunswick Street represents a £24m investment by Maldron's parent company, Dalata.

It is the group's fourth hotel in Northern Ireland in a portfolio which includes the Maldron Hotel at Belfast International Airport, the Maldron in Londonderry and the Clayton on Ormeau Avenue in Belfast.

With 237 bedrooms, The Maldron is now the third largest hotel in the city. The biggest is currently the Europa with 272 rooms, followed by the Holiday Inn with 250.

Francine O'Hagan, the Maldron's sales and marketing manager, said the new hotel offers an exciting new opportunity for the company to expand and grow.

"Our superb location in the heart of Belfast's thriving city centre means we can provide fantastic accommodation to working-week visitors, fun-seeking families and weekend revellers alike," she added.
